National Council for Vocational Training
In pursuance of the 1951 recommendations from the All India Council for Technical Education, the Government of India recognized the urgent need for a central agency to coordinate training programs nationwide. The goal was to establish a uniform standard of craftsmanship and award certificates of proficiency on an All-India basis.
This lead to the establishment of the National Council for Vocational Training (N.C.V.T) in 1956. By setting a national standard, the N.C.V.T. ensures that every certificate holder possesses a recognized degree of skill, facilitating the mobility of tradesmen and enhancing their employment opportunities across various engineering and building trades.
Key Responsibilities of N.C.V.T:
- Prescribing standard curricula for Craftsman Training.
- Advising the Central Government on overall training policies.
- Conducting All India Trade Tests (AITT).
- Awarding the prestigious National Trade Certificates (NTC).
